Aigars Raumanis, an accomplished saxophonist hailing from Latvia, stands as a rising star in the world of music. With a penchant for premiering groundbreaking works by renowned Latvian composers such as Platons Buravickis, Andris Dzenītis, and Pauls Dambis, Aigars has consistently pushed the boundaries of his craft.
His musical prowess has garnered him accolades of the highest order, most notably the prestigious "Young Artist of the Year 2019" award, presented by the Latvian state as part of The Great Music Award.
Aigars's journey through music education has been marked by excellence. He graduated from the Jazeps Medins Riga Music Secondary School under the tutelage of the esteemed Oskars Petrauskis. He further honed his skills and earned a bachelor's degree at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music under the guidance of Professor Artis Sīmanis. Aigars's thirst for knowledge led him to the Helsinki Music Academy, where he studied under Professor Jonataan Rautiola, and the Strasbourg Music Academy, where he was mentored by Professor Philippe Geiss. He has obtained master's degree at the Latvian Academy of Music, under the guidance of the accomplished flutists Ilona Meija. Aigars Raumanis has carved a niche for himself as a winner of numerous competitions both in Latvia and across Europe. Noteworthy among his achievements are his first-place finish at the Stockholm International Music Competition (Sweden, 2019), Grand Prix at the European Saxophone Forum competition (Poland, 2018), and third place at the International Interpretation Contest for Saxophone (Romania, 2018), among others.
As a soloist, Aigars has graced the stage alongside esteemed orchestras, including the Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Riga, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Latvian National Armed Forces Orchestra, Latvian Radio Bigband, and Lithuanian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, his musical journey has taken him to various corners of the globe, where he has performed in the USA, France, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Greece, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden.
